In advance of the Brooklyn Community Board 2 Executive Committee meeting, Levin sent in a letter of support for a new school in Downtown Brooklyn. Among the reasons he cited were the impending overcrowding in the existing schools due to the population boom, the need to create a sense of community in a new neighborhood, and safety concerns about having lots of small children crossing hazardous roadways to get to the existing schools in the surrounding neighborhoods.
